The Chair of Computational Modeling and Simulation at Technical University Munich invites applications for the position of a Research Assistant (m/f) for performing fundamental research in the field of Building Information Modeling and teaching classes at Master level. The candidate has the opportunity to attain a doctoral degree (Ph.D.). Remuneration rate is according to the public sector rate TVL E13 resulting in approx. 2800-3000€ per month before tax. The initial term of appointment is three years, starting February 1st 2017. Application deadline is November 30, 2016.

Our interdisciplinary team at the CMS chair is investigating computational models and techniques for application in civil engineering. The main emphasis of our research activities is on geometric and semantic modeling (Building Information Modeling), simulation and monitoring of construction process, as well as pedestrian dynamics.

The offered position is part of the freshly established research unit 2363, which is funded by the German Research foundation. The project aims at using Building Information Models for evaluating different design options in early design phases. To this end, the formal representation and use of different levels of development / levels of detail in the model is investigated. For applying for this position, the candidate should possess in-depth skills and experiences in object-oriented programming. A background in Structural Engineering or Architecture is beneficial.
